there is one thing about having a bad score (mine is currently 4.3) but when people just dont get it and think I am not within the challenge that just makes me mad. I cant beleive how narrowminded people are being, and before anyone tells me i am being a bad sport i really dont care that the score isnt that great. For once I thought I had a reasonable image, just goes to show you that you never can tell.
Can you give images a little more thought before you vote, not just for mine but for others as well. |

I can second that mine currently 3.8 with 14 people saying what an awesome photo but it does not meet the challenge and then telling me they are giving it a 1 or 2.
The ironic thing is it was part of a job I did over the weekend for a publication called, "Christmas Catalogue of Fun". Just found out today they decided to print the photo I have in the challenge. Go figure...
People seem to think a catalogue can only sell a product rather than a service, entertainment, day out with the family which this publication was promoting.

Yeah, I know how that can suck. If it's any consolation at all, I don't think I voted down any picture that was not product-related and I'm sure there are others like me to tip the balance. Anyway, mine, altho' a product shot, is also taking a beating 'coz it's probably not full of glitter and Christmasy sparkle (been hovering below 5). The problem is I've got a miserable 3 comments. :( |

What score you get here at DP Challanege does not indicate everything about you as a photographer or as a graphic designer.
I make a very substantial living as a creative services director and marketing rep for a photographic services company. I buy, sell and handle a lot of images...about a million dollars in volume a year just in my district (Virginia and North Carolina).
I still have photos that can suck a$$, I still make mistakes in graphic choices.
Here is a good example....My Spoons, Forks Knives entry was an experiment with this "Grungy" action that seems so popular here at DP Challenge. I was very inexperienced with this action so...I figured...lets learn something here.
This was my DP Challenge Entry...neat idea...poorly executed
The result was I learned something but got hammered in the voting...Great....I went and spent time trying to figure out what the photo could be like using my magazine and advertising senses.
This is the result of my rework...but the methods I used are not legal for challenges here....
This image has actually been purchased by an advertiser as it looks like what you should expect in an ad...but with the same little twisty look.
My point......DP Challenge has lots of people here that make a living with photography in some way but still can learn somthing...no matter how experienced you think you are. I have co-workers who watch my back on images and "vote" on changes. Here you have the membership :-D |

This is just a mid-voting slump ... and speaking of Lexi, voting, and FL ... I hope my score isn't a result of "voting irregularities" ... you may have too many hanging chads on your monitor, you might want to check your score again.
