Went out to the Lincolnshire coast today, to a place called Donna Nook. The place is an RAF Bombing Range in the week, but at weekends its open to the public as a nature reserve.

The biggest colony of breeding Atlantic Grey Seals in the UK breed here.

Now all say AHHHH!

Awwwwww!

(Sorry about the accent, I only say "ah" at the doctor's office.)

Definitely aww inspiring.

Though I must admit... I struggle to imagine a good co-existence between furry creatures and high-explosives.

The bombing doubles as population control.

OK - I must point out that it is not a range for live ordnance, its target practice I think ;-)

Still, a well placed 2,000 pound inert bomb could take out a few of these critters. ;-P

LOL Jammur. These are great photos, by the way. I did murmur "Awwwww" (not "Ahhh") when I saw them. Great job capturing these images.

They know better than to mess around with Navy SEALS.

well.. coming from a nation that for the past 1000 years has depended on fishing as their main food source and their main export, I really don't like seals, navy or any other kind;)

they all bring trouble, the navy seals bring death and destruction, all other seals bring ringworms and other discusting things, and they have beeen the biggest problem in fishing for centuries, but after we got terrorist like GreenPeace and Sea Shepherd, then the constantly growing number of whales are getting to be even a bigger problem than the fishingfleet and the seals.

and the meat of the seal isn't any good.. but sealskin coat looks great ;)

They kinda look like furry bombs...are you sure it isn't some sort of stealth technology? Seal-skin torpedos?
