Same here. We use McAfee at work and have had several guys get viruses, but that is largely due to the type of emails they get.

i've used avg for a couple of (or three) years... and i've not gotten a virus yet... It's caught a couple that tried to come in through email ..
BUT
no virus suite is good if you don't update it weekly
I use avg because its free, works with outlook and updates automatically when I start the computer and then daily if the computer stays on. |

AVG also, and Microsoft Beta Anti-spyware. A good combo, no viruses or adware/spyware now for months.

Greetings,
I've been using Mcafee's stuff since way back in the 80's, when it was free, and only updated once or twice a MONTH, lol, never had a virus, and still lovin' it!

I have tried norton over the years and while it has kept me virus free i cannnot recomend it. I had the suite and it crippled my computer. i scaled back to just the virsu stuff, and the last verison i had had a bug - it woul dnot scan my computer automatically - i had to do it drive by drive. Norton was useless, support or fix wise.
currently using Zone Alarm - i got the firewall pro version and their anti virus off amazon for $12 after rebate. I have used the free zone alarm firewall for years - lots of updates and NEVER an issue with it working or interfering with any programs.

The new computer I have has both installed. Should I remove one of them? I can't seem to make McAfee not run at all... I've always used Nortons and prefer it. Will they conflict with each other if I don't remove one?

Norton, without a doubt. It's worked wonders for me and I love it.

I've used Norton's now for about 6 years! I've never had a problem with it though it does slow the system down slightly whilst doing it's checks! |
