I am in the market for an Apple Powerbook. Ideally the 15" but I heard somewhere that the 15" version has issues with horizontal lines on the screen. Anyone have one of these (New Oct 05 version, higher resolution screen) that can comment on whether this is a 'real' issue or just Forum noise...

Thanks

I've read about that before a friend of mine recently brought one and had that issue did some googleing and found other posting about peps having the same problem he sent it in to apple recently, also another on of my friends had the previous 15" powerbook I think the 1ghz or 1.2 not sure but his had logicboard problems. Kind of sucked to back then cause it was happening alot then people were on there 3rd or 4th logicboard but ones with no warranty it sucked.

I got a powerbook 12" with no problems at all. My family just got a ibook 12" for my pops for chrsitmas and its great also, I have been loading software in it so when he gets it for christmas its already to go. I dont know what the problem is with the 15" powerbooks seems like its not affecting the whole line though seems like a powerbook here and there.

I have a 15" one model before the one you are looking at, so I cannot comment on the new higher resolution screen. In general, the powerbook monitor blows away the thinkpad T41 that I have parked next to it and I wouldn't trade if for any other system... except maybe the newer model (despite forum noise).
