Built in 1154 and extended over the following 4 centuries the Priory must have been a glorious sight 500 years ago. Unfortunately in 1539 King Henry VIII undertook a campaign to destroy the monastic houses of England and much of it is now in ruins.
The best photo of the day placed 5th in the off center challenge. Unfortunately it wasn't one of mine. lol.
Bolton Abbey Gallery - comments/critiques appreciated.

Still Standing is my favourite of the bunch. It tells the best story, even though the others may make a better documentary. I can't tell you what makes me feel this way about them, but most of the others (while technically good photos) don't seem to capture the spirit of the place. You seemed to have captured the history in Still Standing.
Towards the heavens is almost there, but not to the same degree. I have no idea how useful these comments are, but they're all I've got. good work.

magnificent! what beautiful and tragic ruins. Though it is steeped in shadows I wish were less harsh and overbearing, I like the choir photo the best, maybe because of the shadow of the wall we cannot see and the lush carpet of grass within the choir hall.
Very well done! |

Hey bod, great pictures. I agree with Pedro, Standing Still is a fantastic picture, I also really like the B+W of Silent Voices you've got on there too.
Great work!

i suppose being patient pays off.
still standing is beautiful
and i like stepping stones too, except it seemed more like the scary alternative route rather than fun
