Yeah, but between now and tomorrow there will be 50+ more entries. |

I can't believe I did it! I was not going to enter this one, but I had an idea that grabbed me like a compulsion and would not let go, so I executed it just now and posted it up. The odd thing is the PP was absolutely minimal; I probably could have entered it with no PP and scored the same, abysmally low score I am certain to get.
But by gawd, I simply HAD to do this image. I got the idea for it during a 6-hour power outage yesterday...
Wish me luck, I need it :-)

My entry requires a single candle. To get anything close to a decent exposure required for the other elements caused, the candle flame to be blown out (pun intended). I opted for an additional light source and shot through a diffuser from another room. Ok so if there is only one entry with a room and one candle you can identify it but I hardly think that is likely :-) I don't interpret the challenge to mean exclusively candlelight.

Nor should you, IMO. I'd venture that nearly 100% of the "great" candlelight-mood images by professionals have massive amounts of carefully-directed fill to balance things out so they LOOK candlelit but don't go too contrasty or blow out the flame.
That said, I did mine with nothing but the light from a single candle, but it was like a personal challenge. It will not score well at all, I don't think.

Well, I don't know what's made me go OOtB lately, but I can be fairly sure my entry is going to be unique.
High risk - high reward. Here comes a 6.5 or a 4.5... |

I'm in the same boat. Knowing my luck, 4.5 coming at me. |

I burned my finger with my first idea, then gave up on my second idea after discovering that Army Men don't make good candles.
Back to the drawing board. If you don't hear back from me shortly, call the Fire Dept.

Yup, I understand that compulsion: it is called 'The creative muse grabs you by the shirt and shakes you vigoriously telling you YOU MUST DO THIS!" :-) Good Luck to all who have taken on this challenge - it was an interesting and challenging excercise. |

I'm still having nightmares about candle photos. My 2nd worst score was in the Single Light Source challenge, and was, of course, a candle.
I'm torn between trying to redeem myself and staying as far away from this one as possible.

I submitted mine a few days ago....It's a different one, like most of my shots.
I'm really not sure how people are going to react. I bet I will get maybe half that love it to death and give me a 10, and the other half will hate it and give me a 1. Resulting in a 5....lol
I'm excited though...

LOL...I set my hair on fire during one take I didn't even use. I hope it was worth it! At least I know one thing. My entry can NEVER be duplicated. It's one of a kind! :)
