Anyway of making a nikon compatible lense work on a canon? any adapters or anything like that?

yes, there are adaptors.

put this phrase into google: nikon to canon lense adaptor

you will get all the info you want.

is it worth getting? or should I just sell the nikon lense and try and purchase canon lenses?

If it's a very good Nikon lens, and you're willing to live with manual aperture and focus, then it may be worth it. The adapter iself is not necessarily that cheap, so you have to factor that in as well.
