You read a lot of DPC threads about people being scored low in the challenges as well as other people complaining that people don't spend enough time on each picture. I'm sure the administrators have access to how long each picture is viewed, on a per challenge basis. That might be interesting to have posted along the challenge results. Are most people look at each picture for 3 seconds...2 seconds...1 second!?? I'm very curious...personally...but I don't know if that curiosity is universal.

If something like this were implemented, people who wouldn't spend the time to look to begin with either wouldn't vote, or would just let the image sit there for a few seconds...not sure something like this would work very well.

Even with the ability to extract this information from logfiles, it is heavily skewed by the fact that, for example, I may pull up an image to vote on, get distracted, walk away, go down to the house for some pizza, watch The Simpsons, play with the dogs for a few minutes, then come back up and resume voting. My time spent on that image: 2 hours, 23 minutes.

Anyway, in my opinion, it is the responsibility of the presenter to make me want to stare at the image for any longer than a few seconds. I could stare at a turd for 3 hours and am still not likely going to find it more appealing.

No, this doesn't suite my way of voting. I zap through just as quick as I can. Categorising only into 4,5 and 6.

I admit that I may not go back and review the 4's every time, but usually will spend several hours over the week refining the 5's and 6's, lifting them up the 10' and 9's etc where appropriate.
