I'd like to put a border on a submission and want to make sure I don't break any rules.
It will have a single pixel white line then a thicker black border, is this ok. To do it I will..
1) Stroke the image with a 1px white line.
2) Increase the canvas size with a larger black background.
Is the stroke classed as breaking the rules for either?
1) Drawing
2) Using selection tool (can't stroke without selecting the whole image.
I've seen quite a few submissions having the double border and the rules state a double border is allowed in basic editing. Just want to make sure I don't get a DQ :)

This approach has been used numerous times and has never been rejected yet.
So I would take that as a yes....

The method you are describing is fine.
We basically consider the creation of a border separate from the editing itself. As such, the border rules and not the editing rules generally apply to the creation of a border.

You may find it works better to increase canvas size twice, once with white BG and once with black BG.

Thanks for that, I like the increase to canvas twice method, as long as you check 'relative' everything works perfectly.

Can a border be a shape besides a rectangle? Can the photo be ovular inside the frame or can it be a fuzzy border?

| It can, I believe. You might want to reconsider making an artistic statement with your border though, as I think it's probably the most surefire way of losing votes. |
