Just voted on the last couple of challenges..

In Country life I did put the comment 'just because it is country side doesn't mean it depicts country life' on quite a lot of images..This applied to pictures of trees or a field or a house with a garden.. basically I guess I was getting country from these images but not life... I had to try and figure a picture out surely the photographer can meet me half way and try and understand my comment??

I think 'not on subject' is a valid comment.. as is anything the viewer can be bothered to type.. I must admit that I try and comment more on the poorer pictures as I feel I can offer them some advice.. The better stuff I can only say 'WOW!'

It's not an American thing. It is a People thing. When humans in general are familiar with one way, or one thing, they tend to view their world from that perspective.

is that what happened? we tried making it so you either had to vote 100% or comment 25% to be able to submit the following week. it worked quite well as i recall; the reason it stopped was the incessant forum whining. Stuff like "but what if im out of town, and can't comment/vote - then i wont be able to submit".

kind of ironic - people want more comments but then feel put upon when they're given a mechanism to achieve that. Heheh.

Now that is what this site is all about!

re the 'american' thing:

imagine if you joined a ukrainian photography website. would you expect it to cater to YOUR particular culture? or would you just go with the flow?

it's a credit that we're as international a site as we are, with as many successful international participants as we do have :).
