I just finished voting on the speed challenge and as I was going through, a couple of times I found myself doing a double take (pun not intended). I asked myself, "Didn't I just vote on that one?" And a little voice answered, "No you didn't dumb ass....but a one that's very similar."
In the first set of suspicious photos the topography was a dead giveaway. In the second set, the subject was identical....and let's just say the title was more than similar. Coincidences, maybe. May very well be a good explanation.
Did anyone else pick up on anything like this? I certainly don't want to recommend DQs but if these are by the same photographer(s), I have this piece of advice: If you are going to place multiple entries, at least have a different subject or background (not condoning this practice BTW). Also some people take voting very seriously, we take time out to do it and I personally don't want to waste my time voting for the same person twice.

there are alot of families on this site.. it could very well happen that 2 or more people were at the same event.. try to take each as individual photographs and possibly judge who took the better shot of the same subject :)

I haven't gone through the entries yet and so don't know the shots you are talking about. However, we have a number of families as members /users here and it seems reasonable to assume that sometimes members of the same family will be in the same places and at the same events and shoot much the same stuff. I think we need to assume positive intent here unless there is clear evidence to the contrary.
Posted at the same time as the last post, I guess.

I haven't changed my votes on these photos and have judged them individually. Just wanted to give some friendly advice in the event that someone was abusing their priviledges on this site. And if in fact it was family members, it's probably not a good idea to shoot the same subject, in all fairness to them.

There are in fact a number of cases where two people have shot the same subject, either by coincidence or because they were friends or family shooting together at the time (for example, BAMartin and my entries to the games challenge).
In any event, if you notice something suspicious along those lines you are welcome to call it to Site Council's attention (using the recommend for DQ link) and we will do our best to research it.

For the road signs challenge, I drove almost 3 hours to take a photo of the sign pointing to Hell Michigan. Only to see someone else took a shot of the exact same sign. Actually, when I was there, there were footprints in the snow in front of the sign, and I was thinking "wonder which DPCer's feet these are." Turns out I was probably right. lol Ah well. Great minds think alike. :)

I beg to differ (Great minds think alike) most sheep think alike. I personally asked my older children if they would like to join, and I think the only thing I have to worry about is that their shots will be better than mine. People enter Photoshop altered shots you know who you are (captain obvious) but I don̢۪t complain because if you don̢۪t want to play by the rules that̢۪s your deal. Me I̢۪ll just keep plugging along.

orussell, I noticed the same thing as you, and no it's not deja-vu. I double confirmed the photo and they are the exact same one. For instance, one would be greyscale while the other one is in colour. There is not only 1 example, but severals of them. But of course like many of you mentioned, it could be due to someone shooting the same thing. I give these photos the benefit of a doubt and have not voted them down in anyway.

I figured I was just being petty, so I PMed ClubJuggle to ask him to nuke the thread (not sure if he got the msg yet). Really not worth the fuss that these threads create. And you're right we have to give the photos the benefit of a doubt. Cheers.
