What is that picture of?
12/01/2005 10:59:02 PM · #5
it's the inner workings of a clock. shot at a 1 to 1 ratio. it's a little heavy on the left side of the frame. if that would have been at the bottom I think it may have worked about a little better
I'll see what I can do

the lighting is a 360 degree wrap around style, I'm not sure how it turned out flat.

I see the problem - a couple of those screws on the right are slightly stripped and their are metal shavings falling into the gears. Plus it looks like the rubber band came off and the hamster fell off the wheel. You just might need a whole new car.

Well I hope you dont mind but I played with the photo a bit. Trying to get it not so flat. I think it definately stands out more. FWIW I would have given you a 5 or 6.

Excellent sharpness at 1:1. I agree with others here that its a bit flat. I also think the image would probably also look good in B&W.

BTW, you didn't get that magnifcation with your 18-35 did you? I've owned several examples of that lens, and its not really known for close-up work.

ohh no, it's shot with the nikion micro lens about 60mm away from the subject. I got the lens from checkout at school.

What did you do to get that effect?

Here's another try at it.

Lost a little in the shadows, but I don't think it was really adding much to the shot anyway.

I played with Saturation, hue, all done with basic editing rules. As I have yet to figure out how to do layers. When I got the colors I liked, I used USM and then ran it through Neat Image. I did all of this with Photoshop Elements 4.0

Edit to add that I think Tsheets did a much better job at making it look better then I did.
