For those of you who have a porfolio online and sell prints through dpchallenge... how is that going?? Obviously you have to have pics that people like but do you sell one or two a month..year...what? I'm interested in using the site as a medium to sell prints but am unsure of the benifits to be recieved. thanks for the relplys

Selling prints on DPCPrints works as good as you are at bringing in buyers to your DPCPrints portfolio. This site, in it's present configuration, is not geared toward being "a medium to sell prints" as it's primary mission. Most of the users here are print makers and print sellers, and not print buyers. If I were going to get serious about selling a lot of prints of my shots, I would look beyond dpc for another venue that was aimed more at selling prints and had a lot more buyer traffic.
However, our site adminstrators are in the process of renovating the print sales part of the site. I think their is great potential, and sales may boom when the new DPCPrints gets off the ground.

As Coolhar has said, DPC Prints allows you to make sales, in the most part only if you are good at bringing people to the site yourself.
It's rare to make unexpected sales, though I have made a small number.
Unfortunately it does not succeed at attracting traffic itself.
For about 1.5 years we've been promised imminent upgrades to the Prints site but these have never materialised so I no longer hold my breath.
Given that I am losing 25% to 50% of profits on each sale I'm considering moving my prints to a site that actively works to bring in traffic as it's part of the deal. Providing hosting and a buying/ postage mechanism is not enough, in my opinion, to justify the commissions.
