I was looking through some old challenges at some of the disqualified images and saw this given as a reason for disqualification (excerpt):
"Photographer is dead. Dead people can't submit to challenges. Please review the challenge submission rules."
1st one to guess which challenge it was from gets a free Nikon D200. Contests rules stipulate that the phrase "Nikon D200" aforementioned is the equivalent to the english phrase "round of applause". The contest provider is given sole jurisdiction regarding which of the two commonly used meanings will be used as a reward for said competition.

Just know that this was an "experiment" for the site and voters...Hang around long enough and even "you" can win a non-extant camera! =)

Well done. It was ol' Ansel himself. I am lead to believe that this was not a rightfully disqualified image, but that Mr. Adams himself came back from the dead to enter the competition. Oh, and the round of applause. *clap*clap*clap*
And I almost went with the camera... oh well maybe next time.
