I was just wondering how many of you view the entries at different distances. I know that with so many to evaluate it is tiring and we start to just look at them up close. Some pictures are better appreciated at some distance, so I take a second look from about 3 to 5 feet, just to see the difference. I get up from the computer to do this and it gets the circulation going again, and on several occasions I have seen more of what the photographer saw when they took it. If you have not done this you might give it a try, you might be surprised. |

I have found this not only useful, but enhances my voting/viewing experience. I have a nice monitor now (since December), so I like to walk across the room, and see some of the photos from a bit of a distance.

Can we do the same thing by changing the resolution on the computer screen without moving the chair?

I'll be honest -- I can't say I've ever tried viewing shots from various distances before. I can see, though, how the perspective could change, just based on my feelings about thumbnails.
Ever look at a thumbnail and have one impression of the image, and feel completely different about it when you see the full shot? |

Not exactly--your vision changes as the distance from your eye to the object (screen) changes, even if the effective diameter of the viewed object is the same. |
