At this point I can't wait for the deadline to pass.
Why?
Because then I won't be able to agonize over which of the two shots I have is the better one to stay entered:-)I have already driven the hubby crazy with 'which one is better?', 'What do you think of this?', 'What's your opinion on...?"
Heh, bring on the deadline so the opinions and commentary can start rolling in:-) |

I'm with Rikki, I can't decide. I had one picture loaded for a few days, was SURE it was the one, and now I just uploaded a different one - in a totally different direction (subject wise)...argh, what to do?, what to do?....
I also don't want to get my hopes up. I did well in the Triptych, and it looks like my Even entry will also do well, now I have "EXPECTATIONS!" Life is so much easier when you don't have high expectations (less pain on the down fall when they are not met). :-) |

My "possible free study" folder has 12 images in it now, sigh. And I love each of them. I can eliminate half of them as being not likely to "connect" with voters, but that still leaves me dithering...

Well, I stepped outside of my usual box. I'm not sure how it's going to do but I really, really like the shot.
That's all that really matters, right? That we've all pushed ourselves to new limits to get that one shot? In that aspect we've all already won.
There I go trying to get all deep again. Good luck everyone! I'm sure the competition will be tough but I'm looking forward to some AWESOME displays of artistic talent.

My prediction is that a shot of flying monkeys in tuxedos will win the blue!
...too bad I don't have any shots of flying monkeys in tuxedos :-(
oh well, there's always vanilla pudding!

How about staggering cockroaches in their underwear?

hmmm, that might be good for a top 10, but I don't know if it could break into ribbon territory? Maybe if the underwear was thongs...
...red thongs with black hearts on them...that might do it...
well, now you've got me thinkin', I'm off to look for thongs and cockaroaches!!!

Didn't really prepare for this one but I'm submitting anyways. It's something that's not particularly popular here but I'm prepared for a score below 5 which means it would be in the bottom pile. Past Free Study challenges were always high scoring challenges, and rightly so... the entries were topnotch.

only took my camera out twice this month and the first time I could only hold it and shoot with my left hand (shoulder reconstruction) so I won't be using any of them :)
that leaves one session to choose from and I only got one keeper out of that... that makes my choice easy

Yep.... I've got a grand total of two good shots this month. (I've taken approximately 25 all month)...
I'm clearly not going to win, but I do love my current entry. |

Two contenders, I've flipped the coin and chosen 1 of them
I think the Free Study will be a very high scoring challenge as usual, so I guess a mid-6 will get about 30th-40th placing. |

| While we are all guessing on scores...I will guess that I will STILL get comments on "Does Not Meet Challenge"! :P |

| I predict my highest score to date, however in a free study, that still won't be enough to ribbon... but I'm working on getting my average above 6. |

| Fear the picture that AlexSaberi has in store for the Free Study.. Its rather tasty and has ribbon written all over it. Awesome capture. |

I love my entry and I think it should score 7+ :-)
I'll be happy with beating my average 5.32. |

Just got my entries in for this and Industrial....was out of town over the holiday weekend so i had some new subjects to shoot.
I think my Free Study will do well. It is a very DPC type of image...but the last time i thought that i was wrong. So who knows.
I have high expectations, but then if i didn't, why enter?

I'm in the same boat as mesmeraj, I have been so busy lately that I haven've even ahad time to enter all the challenges, much less take a great Free Study of one of my favorite subjects.

i've spent most of the day (yeah, i'm slackin' at work) playing with rawshooter and adobe trying to get my selected shot to look it's best. after a couple hours of dodging, burning, and moving sliders willy-nilly, i think i'm going to just try and reshoot...
arrgh.

If you have a really fabulous free study photo, maybe take it out of the running here and save it for a "best of 2005" challenge. Maybe ALL of you should take out your entries and wait for that one...
That would be the only way mine could possibly ribbon. I'm hopin for top 100. |

I'm torn between a B&W or Color version.
I have a feeling that the color will do much better than the B&W on DPC.
What does everybody else think?
