Does anybody else use this feature? Do the other Canon cameras have this feature also? Sounds like a good idea to a file each way I would think.

| Never use it as it's a waste of space. Personally I only shoot in RAW and see no need to save duplicate files, but one with lesser quality. |

its useless to use both, i shoot in raw except when im just taking pictures og a birthday party or somthing within the family, then i just shoot it in jpeg.
Often in that situastion its quantity over quality that the parents are after hehe |

When I made the transition to RAW a little over a year ago, I quit saving any JPEG file at all. The only reason I can think of to write RAW+JPEG is to have a "digital negative"in the RAW file, and a rapidly-available file that can be used with no editing, where time is of the essence, as in photojournalism work.

I did this for a while on the 20D until I was happy with the RAW workflow thing but have now junked the extra JPG, since I can generate it from the RAW when necessary.
I can see permenantly using the Small-JPG+RAW to make posting to the web and/or email quickly but not the larger one. The only exception mught be for B&W where you want the large JPG but also the RAW as a safty in case you need the colour version. |

it's not very useful unless you are saving each file to seperate cards at the same time as backup or you need to have the files ready to display right away.

You can shoot RAW + any size jpg on a canon. RAW + jpg/small or medium gives you a much smaller "original" file you can submit for validation purposes, which would be very handy for those on dialup who also shoot RAW.
I started out shooting RAW + small and opening the jpgs directly in PS to quickly process them and see what I had available; the ones that looked best, I'd go back and do the RAW processing. But I've stopped doing that now, since I got the 20D and the better RAW processor; thatw sa back when I shot Nikon RAW with my 5700, and I had no easy, fast conversion software.

I can imgine pros using this feature so they can jack out test prints on the spot to examine closely, in a studio environment...
