I own a Sony Mavica FD-91 -- it's the camera I intend(ed?) to use for the majority of my entries here. However, after having looked at some photos (including a brand new, untouched shot) in Thumber, it would appear that the FD-91 doesn't save EXIF data with the shot.
Does anybody know if I'm looking in the wrong spot (perhaps the .411 file carries the information separately?), or am I simply out of luck because it's an older camera? If I am out of luck, what does that mean for me in terms of entering any future challenges? |

I'm pretty sure the Mavicas just don't save EXIF data.
In the current state of the site, we do not explicitely require proof of date measures for dated challenges. We do, however, monitor the submission 'exposure date' and any file exif data to ensure that users are reading and following the challenge guidelines -- not so much to catch them 'cheating'.
You're quite fine for the challenges right now. If, in the future, we require some sort of proof-of-date for certain challenges (or challenge levels ;), it will likely not rely on EXIF data anyway, as this information can be changed. What it will rely on, your guess is as good as mine :)

Thanks for the update, Drew. I kind of figured that what you said with regard to the challenges would be the case, but I didn't want to assume anything.
As for your idea about money being used as an arbiter for proof, Mousie, I fear I'd STILL be out of luck. *grin*
Thanks to both of you.
