Correct. Most CC members are probably more interested in what you were trying to accomplish than in your specific editing steps.

Of course, it's still a good idea to keep track of your editing steps, in case you're asked for them by SC as part of a validation request.

Too many things written to remember/respond to them all.

Post critique - this is the hardest for me. I want to know if the person found it helpful or if they think I am talking out my ear or something. I don't understand how people either ignore/do not acknolwedge/do not find helpful something they asked for and one of us took the time to write. It takes time to write a critique - longer than it takes for a recipient to read it. A PM with simply 'thanks for the critique' is enough. Takes less than a minute of time. Checking the box takes what? all of .0001 seconds?

Limiting the # or requests - there are a lot of suggestions on this already, my only input would be if a person has received a critique within the last x challenges, they should be put at the bottom of the queue. I say this since when I sit and start writing, I try and do many at once, I critique a photogs image and then a few images later I get another image from the same photog. With the random assignment this cannot be helped. But it hardly seems fair when a queue of 2 to 3 hundred images exists and one person ends up getting more than one critique.

Random:
Leave the random assignment alone. In my opinion, there are very few reasons to not critique the photo assigned. Not liking a particular type of photo should not be good enough reason to pass it by. An image submitted by your best friend might be if you want to be fair. Movie critics critique every movie and I am sure they all don't like the genre of every movie they see. If you were allowed to pick and choose what you critiqued I think the critiques would start to show a lot of bias.

If you are a member of the CC, in my opinion, you voluntarily accepted the responsibility that goes along with it. Some of the suggestions I have read here just seem to be made out of laziness. Part of the responsibility, in my opinion, is to notify the person that you just critiqued their photo. I thouhgt all CC did this, apparently I thought wrong.

If you are the recipient of a critique, it is your responsibility to acknowledge it somehow. If you didn't find it helpful, don't check the box, but DO PM the critic and discuss it with them. If you found it helpful, by all means check the 'helpful' box. This is just as much courtesy and respect as it is the fair thing to do. The biggest thing that bothers me is doing a critique, no acknowledgment from the photog, then getting assigned another image from the same photog. These I do critique, but it is always after I take a break and let it sit on my screen for a while. Not that the photog knows this, but it is my way of making myself feel better, adjusting my mood, and being fair on the current image.

Heather - where do you get your stats from? Is there a screen that you can see that we can't that tells you how many images have been critiqued? Just looking back to the 22nd, I have done 15. Granted, last week was a very busy one for me and my weekend was sidetracked by reconciliation with my daughter and meeting my grandkids for the first time. But there have been more than 8 in the last week.

I said THIS week, not IN THE LAST week. (So basically Monday) There's a CC Admin page that shows some basic stats, which change on challenge roll over. I have them printed out randomly for the last few months, So I can refer back to them. Since the free membership offer ended, you have done 23 Crits, which is like 1/3 of all the crits given since then. So excellent job! This week (Monday and Tuesday), there have now been 9 crits completed, so that's like 4 a day. At that rate, CC will get about 25 done before challenge changeover. See...it doesn't matter how many photos we throw out of the list...I think the major important thing is to get more people to GIVE CC's. This could be in the form of some kind of 'reward'. A points system has been discussed in the past, and maybe something to discuss again, But not in this thread. I also think that If photographers had the option to skip a photo that had no info, maybe more people would critique more.

If this is added I would like to see a couple preference options.

For those of us who like to put ourselves in the voters seat a "hide all comments" button. Which would allow us to write the critique without bias. And when we're ready a "show all comments" button on the page.

My critique here shows why it's helpful to see them as well as not. Which is why I would like it as an option not as a requirement.

After reading through this thread, I can understand why those volunteers who are taking their time to do critiques would like more info from the photogs requesting them. Perhaps an additional pop up screen that appears when submitting an entry with the CC box checked would be appropriate. This screen could be a list of questions for the requester to respond to by either filling in a box or checking off from a list those items they want critiqued. Something like this:

This would give the CC Member something to work with and educate the requester on what a critique can be all about.

Also, would it be difficult to add a line to the Photograph Information that lists when you click on a photo to indicate that Critique Club Comments are pending or something of that nature and then when the critique has been posted that line would disappear. I know in the past, I have clicked the critique club box and then unclicked it and for the life of me I can't remember if I have any that I am waiting for or not...

Just my 2 cents worth :-)

edit to add that this would of course have to happen anytime during voting if someone decided to check the box then too.
