This is true enough, but if I made a post saying "Everyone on this site is a flaming a**h*le" and people respond vociferously, the fault would be mine. We can't just go around saying inflammatory things and expect people to let it coast on by. It's not that you have opinions, David, it's the way you express them, the stridency of your expression, the no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners, sheer aggressiveness of it. I mean this in the kindest way. You often have valid points, but your rhetorical style obfuscates them to the degree that the message is not heard over the tone in which it is expressed.

Shawn, I left a comment on the picture. :-)

C'mon over. I made a LOT more than I thought I was gonna. Can you be here in an hour or so?

I hear you bear, and I'm not trying to place any blame anywhere...I am not the one with a problem as to 'what the thread turned into' -- it's a fact of life...shit happens. If people aren't happy with my opinion, they are more than welcome to share their opinions back, but when they do so in a style that asks for more feedback from me, don't be surprised or start placing blame when I give it.

Ok, after reading this whole thread all I have to say is the strawberries that just spent the day soaking in sugar and cinnamon were excellent. Nice and el dente and perfect flavor. Squeezed a little lime juice in at the end...mmm, mmm good!

I know there is a lot of respect and admiration for Joey on the site. And yes, a lot of it has to do with his high attention photos which have been spoken about here. Not to take any sides, just to point forth a different perspective: I critiqued one of Joey's photos today. There was no fancy post processing, no dragonizers or other filters used, no special techniques. What there was was an extremely powerful image in subject, composition, and perspective that just reached out from the screen and grabbed you at first sight - more like a gut punch of emotive force. It is these images he produces that really grab my attention and it is for these types of images I placed him on my favorites. There is a lot more to Mr. Lawrence than the grunge factor that has come to be so well liked.

I also have deapee on my favorites. Despite the sometimes agressive stance, at least you have to give him credit for being honest. Some may take it as being argumentative, some I know take it in other ways. When it comes right down to it though, he speaks what is on his mind truthfully as he sees it. A lot of people here dance around opinions and lay it on a little thick for no reason at times (can't figure this one out) and with D you get the straight dope. On the other side, his pictures I also find very well composed, a lot of thought goes into timing, perspective, the peripheral views, etc. You can tell he really tries to capture what he sees in his mind with his lense. He may seem short fused in the forums, but I don't get that impression from his work at all. I think this adds some to the frustration with all the attention post processing gets.

So I guess what I am trying to say is that even though we have two totally opposite personalities here, they both produce excellent work. We all know artists, of all kinds, in general, are a tempermental, moody, emotional, argumentative group. We need those sides to balance out all the energy we expend on our creativity - everything else gets crunched up. Realizing this is a moderated forum, constructive tolerance is far better than destructive criticism.

I just don't understand his beef. Soo many talented photogs on here. Whether it is post or pre-processing, I looked at your stuff David and see alot of post processing. Just get along with other kids.

You could have stopped it in its tracks, or at least absolved youself from putative "blame", by interjecting "Perhaps I spoke too harshly, but I think I made a valid point." This is always a good tactic to defuse confrontations. Had you done that, then truly you'd have had no "blame" appended to you had others continued to "attack" you.

Again, I understand your point bear and I respect that as your stance on such situations. Me, personally, I wasn't trying to 'not be attacked' or to avoid a confrontation. I don't mind hearing what people think of me or hearing that someone disagrees with me. I'm not afraid to have the blame pointed in my direction either, but I just wanted to make the point that if anyone is to blame, it is not one individual, but a colaborative effort that turned this thread into whatever it is now.

Unless you are going to point to a post where you think I've violated the rules or report me to the SC, don't mention my name. I have been pretty light hearted about our exchanges from the other day, even asking if we couldn't be friends as we're both nikon users. Please don't drag my name through the mud when I haven't done anything. And if I have, please point out where or report me or even PM me. What you've done here isn't right.

I believe Terry's referring to Sections 4.1 and 4.2, but that's just a guess based on reading the thread.

I haven't broken any of those rules...no more than club juggle or frisca the other day for that matter.

LOL, please, don't start...RE-READ WHAT YOU QUOTED DEAR FRISCA.

I said...

I HAVEN'T BROKEN ANY OF THOSE RULES...no more than club juggle or frisca the other day for that matter.

I don't feel I broke any rules, although those rules are open to interpretation. Technically speaking, anyone who is offended by anyone can accuse them of braking that rule...but like I said, I do not feel I broke the rule, and I do not feel you broke the rule...which is what I said. Would you like me to repeat that again? I did not break the rule, and neither did you.

Oh, and I'll mention your name any time I want...I'm allowed to mention your name if I do so desire. And yes, I have been 'threatened' and warned through PM's about how you're this bigshot lawyer that would sue anyone for anything including slander. I do not know the definition of slander, but I can assure you and everyone else that is reading this that saying someone didn't break any rules sure as heck isn't sladner...and I don't need a law degree to know that.

Good day!

Furthermore What are you going to sue me for, half of my negative equity? Good luck.

Being that it's a site that you pay to belong to, I would imagine it's quite a bit harder than some free internet forum...there would be legal implications involved I believe.

I suppose the difference is that I think you do violate rules and have done so with your latest behaviour. That you believe I have not violated rules is heartening, thank you.

Also, if anyone is PM'ing you threatening you about what I do for a living and what not, it was not with my knowledge or endorsement. I am Canadian, not litigious. I never threatened you with a lawsuit, though I did mention that some things you said I considered to be slander (libel depending on how a forum on the 'net is intepreted). I never even told you what I do for a living, let alone lord it over you or attempt to intimidate you with a threat of legal sanctions.

I'm going to ask again, please don't mention my name unless we're in a conversation. I do not consider this a conversation. I do not wish to have any arguments or discussions about anything with you at this time. I simply do not want to be a person you refer to in any context. I am asking you cordially to not talk about me. If you refuse, that's your business, but I have asked nicely.

Actually, given that this is included in the Terms of Service, I believe there would be no legal implications:

In no event shall any termination, suspension or refusal to provide access by either DPChallenge.com or you act to relieve you of any obligations which have accrued under this Agreement prior to the date of such termination, suspension or refusal.

How about letting your girlfriend, parents, or a good friend read this forum...but don't say anything to them beforehand other than...you would just like their 'unbiased' opinion. To get a different perspective other than yours and other fellow DPC'ers. Just an idea.
