ok.. now i came across the Nikon D50 which i've always thought to be much more expensive than the canon.. but turned out not to be... specially that it comes with 2 lenses a 18-55 and a 55-200 ...at almost the same price as the digital rebel with the 18-55 only....

which is better ????????

Ouch..

you've innocently set yourself up for a lot of pain and torment here :)

I'm using the Nikon 50 with the two lenses outfit. For me, it came down to the feel of the Nikon in my hands and the fact that it did come with two lenses. More bang for the buck IMHO. Cannon makes one hell of a nice camera but it just felt too small in my hands. I also have a good friend that shoots Nikon so I can beg and plead to use his glass once in a while when needed. ;)

I bought the Canon Digital Rebel XT recently and absolutely love it. This is my first SLR and my knowledge is not as vast as many others on dpchallenge but the quality is simply amazing. I have gone away from the EF-S 18-55mm kit lens and am using the Canon 28-135mm IS USM lens as my walk around lens. The lens produces crisp pictures. I'd highly recommend the XT. Even with the kit lens, the pictures were impressive.

I wouldn't go by feel alone. Thats like going by color alone.

Both will produce nice images...I chose the rebel. If you have large hands you wont care for it though. It's design is for people who have smaller hands and/or want a lighter camera.

Not to mention the whopping 8.0 mp.

6 MP, 8 MP -- no difference in the grand scheme of things, so don't let that make your decision for you.
