I'm glowing like Monty Burns.

Just bought the Nikon D200 and I'm praying that Nikon can keep up with production to meet my order. Just reading the specs sent me whirling. This thing should totally rock.
I assume to blanket the world, with the first run each store will only get 10-40 cameras. B&H would probably get around 100 since they are so huge but I'm 31 on the list at J&R.
Can't Wait!!! |

If I were bying DSLR for the first time, the D200 seems to be the perfect fit. But I would like more weather sealed matching lenses...

I pre-ordered mine on the 2nd from Wolf Camera. I have no idea how many ordered before me.

The demand for this camera is so insane. Adorama has around a hundred pre-orders already...maybe more by now. B&H...I can only imagine. I think each huge store orders 300-500 hundred and I bet many of the smaller shops might not even see 10-30. Nobody seems to have a clue with this one.
For some people it might be a bumpy road until they get their hands on one....and I hope it ain't me.

Good luck Steve - looking forward to hearing your impressions.
Just in case Nikon are going for the XBox 360 approach, you may want to pre-order at several stores in case none of them get the stock that they were expecting...!

The D200 is a very sexy camera. If the imaging quality is similra to the D2X, then it should be the best bang for the bucks camera out there.

I cant wait, I have to raise the funds a bit. But hoping that by March I will have one. So excited.

You guys are sooo lucky to be able to pre-order it.
Anyway, I don't really expect to see it on the shelves before the first week of January.
However, I still have to sell my D70 before I buy it. I think I'm gonna wait until it's in stock for sure before I do anything with my D70, I won't be able to stand beeing with no camera at all !! |

The D2X is a smoking camera as is the D70 but the D70 always lacked that little extra that the Canon 20D provides...and here we are with the D200 smack in the middle...finally, at a reasonable price. Beautiful!
I couldn't ask for anything more...except for an SB-800 speedlight, of course.
