I'd love it if at least one of the two open challenges each week were "technical" instead of "themed". Examples would be Leading Line, Rule of Thirds, Shutter Speed, DOF, Motion Blur, etc.

I think these challenges are great because there's less argument about DNMC. People can certainly say "that's a bad application of leading line", but they aren't going to say, "I don't think that meets the definition of camoflauge".

It also is a limited free study and allows maximal creativity for the participants.

Opinions?

Bring back Leading Lines I say! Before my DQ, that was my highest rated image at 6.9+ and placed 4th :)

Yeah I agree about the technical challenges. I enjoy them more ;)Plus I can get to try my improved gadget :) Free Study perhaps? Will you be able to spot me Doc?

Only if you are in the picture... :)

Actually I think I remember the gadget you are talking about. I'll keep my eye open for its effects.

I'd much prefer technical challenges.

The best way to get any sort of challenges is to suggest topics and provide well-written descriptions. I'm sure there'd be no problem adding more technical challenges if you had some specific ones you wanted to suggest.

Bokeh II sounds good to me. Even though it's been less than a year since bokeh I. I wasn't here then. :)

I'm all for it, except we should start with "Abstract". It's been over 18 months since we had one, and it was the first.

I second it...or fourth it...whatever number I am for wanting what we are talking about...what did you say?

OK... How about this. Technical and dueling: high key and low key? Two very different, opposing challenges but both technical...

I really like this suggestion. I'd even like to see one every week. Maybe an open-technical challenge, an open-themed challenge, and the same member-only challenges we already have.

As far as the topics and descriptions, they've already there. I'm sure we've had a challenge for each one, just simply redo it and add a roman numeral to the end. ;)

I like seeing technical challenges but all of the above have been done recently, how about another black and white or selective desaturation.
