Hi All

I seem to have developed a slight problem with my D70s. I fiddled a little with the settings a while back, and now it takes blurry shots when I set it to sports mode. It is fine on "Auto" and I have done the 2 button reset and a Menu Reset.

I am at my wits end, and hopefully it doesn;t have to go back to nikon :-(

Please help!!

Thanks
Grant

Are you using the same lens in all modes?

I don't use "Sports" mode, but in the D70 manual it reads:

"Camera focus continuously while shutter-release button is pressed halfway, following movement of suject through focus areas. Note that shutter can be released even when camera is not in focus; check focus indicator in viewfinder before shooting

Are you checking the focus indicator in the viewfinder while useing the camera in Sports mode?

Well, I took my D70s out to the Hickstead Dearby on its first major outing and crammed 2x 1gig cards full of great shots all done on the sports setting (the little running man on the dial)

About a month later after messing around with the settings in the flat one afternoon, it doesn't take pictures on that mode like before. It feels like the shutter speed is mega slow, and all my pictures are blurred!

I got conned into some physical activity with a football by the company, and during that outburst of energetic madness, neither I nor my wife could snap a decent shot with either lens, which had worked fine for me before!!!

Still Befuddeled

you could have AF-C activated instead of AF-S, or maybe you turned a few of the focus points off, and it's catching the background instead of the intended subject.

or possibly turned the focus lock on ((AE-L/AF-L)) so it only focuses if you hit the button .. ?

mmm, Thanks deapee and ralphnev, both seem like plausable argumets, I have messed with the (AE-L/AF/L setting sounding better, but will have to take it out for a test drive today to see how good/bad it is...

I use AF-C quite a bit for sequence shots, but it makes no difference if it is in AF-C or AF-S... I am curious however about this "turning off of a few focus points" to paraphrase.

Thanks for all the guidence so far.

Well, After messing with the settings again it seemed to be better but there was still a little question mark hanging...

Then an Email from Nikon Arrived with the answer:

"Dear Grant,

Thanks for your mail, i would recommend you to try and reset your camera. you can do that by pressing the tiny button on the bottom of the camera. This will hopefully resolve the issue.
If it does not then i would recommend you to take it back to the shop you bought it off and ask them to have a look at it. As the camera may have developed a fault and may need to be sent into our service centre for repairs. Or you can take contact directly with the service centre there details are as below:

Nikon UK Ltd
380 Richmond Road
Kingston upon Thames
Surrey
KT2 5PR
Tel 0870 770 0232
Fax 020 8541 4590 "

I have included the entire Email incase anyone needs the contact details.

So that was it!

Thanks everyone anyway
