Any suggestions for how i can improve this image (aside from changing the colour casts from two different temperature light sources, which are intentional)?

My biggest problem with this picture is the harsh shadows, they give a very 'sharp' feel to the image, which completely contrasts with the subject. Maybe try putting a small light off to the right, or bouncing your flash off something for that side to soften the shadows.
Otherwise, great pic, I love the pose. |

I like the unique and unusual angle of view. It appears as if she's lying down with her feet up on the wall. I don't like the chair in the lower left coming out of her head and find the lighting too harsh and don't like the yellow/pink colors it's giving off. Most distracting is the glare and soft focus of the book. I wish you would have used a deeper DOF as I would like to see her legs in focus. |

Thanks for the advice. Thing is, all the stuff you pointed out was intentional at the time :S Makes me wonder if i'm going about it all wrong. The bedposts i left in intentionally to give a sense of location to the image, and the harsh shadows were meant to make the lights contrast more... and of course the shallow DOF was intended to keep the face in focus but not make the book legible, and draw the eye down the legs towards the hand and face. I'll have a go at repeating this with diffused lights though...
