Just wondering if somebody here can help me with a problem that I have just started having with Photoshop. Last week everything was working fine, but then I went away on travel. This week when I loaded up my computer and went to launch PS... nothing happened.

It takes me to the screen PS screen that says loading presents and fonts.. but then after it is done loading everything the program just closes. Not sure what this is all about, but would appreciate it if anybody knows what to do here.

Mine did that once and I just uninstalled and reinstalled the program. End of problem. Why it happened I have no idea. You'll lose all your custom configurations, though. You can avoid that by locating those files and copying them to another location on the HD, then copying them back into the new folder where they belong, but I didn't bother.

Sure sounds like a file that Photoshop needs got corrupted. As Robert posted, it may be easiest to uninstall/reinstall. The more seriousl question is, if a file got corrupted, does this mean your hard drive is develping errors? I'd certainly run error checks on it ASAP.

Yah. Forgot to add that this was a signal to me to run full diagnostics. There were errors in the registry, as it happened, though I'm not sharp enough to connect errors to specific things, if ya know what I mean? I just let the tools do their jobs.

Thanks for the help guys. I actually unistalled and then re-loaded, but still nothing.

After freaking out a bit... I searched the Adobe forums and apparently sometimes presets get corrupt which causes this known issue and an unistall does not fix it as presets remain on your computer despite an unistall.

Soooo... for all of those that were wondering (and if anybody else has this problem) you need to search your files/folders including hidden folders for all .psp files. And then delete and presets and cache files. I just got through with it and seemed to work fine and is now loading for me. I did loose my presets and custom actions and fonts, but its a small price to pay for getting PS back.

Again, thanks for the help guys. Going to do a complete disk diognostic tonight!

... maybe now I can come back from my 2 month photo break and actually submit to some challenges!
