Was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem?
My camera locked up today while I had open the on camera flash. It just said busy the whole time. I turned it off, jostled the lens, the busy sign would go off but when I would push the shutter button it would just come up again! When I put my flash down it worked great again.
I really don't want to be without it and with the problems Saj has been having with the customer service I'm not sure what to do. Wait till it happens again!?!!! ugh! |

The standard question in response to almost all problems is:"Is the battery fully charged?" In this case, it would be an appropriate question, as, if the battery is very low, it might struggle to charge the flash capacitor. Until this is done, the 'Busy' message is displayed.

I have been having an Error99 lockup when I tried to use the onboard flash. Canon said they fixed it, but the day after I got it back, it did it again. The onboard flash almost always locks it up now, but I can't afford to be without it right now, so am just using the 580 and lightsphere until I can let it go back to Canon.
This will be the third time that I've had to send it to Canon since April. I'm getting angry and frustrated with them, but they don't care at all.
I feel your pain!
Linda

I had a problem with my 20D where the flash would not open when you pushed it's release button. I could hear the mechanism trying to operate but nothing happened. The mechanism would cycle three times and then shut down the camera. Tried turning it off and then on again; removing and reinstalling the battery; and a newly charged battery, nothing helped. I was really upset at the thought of having to send it in to Canon. It fixed itself overnight and worked normally the next day.
