This may come under the category of "old news" to a lot of people, but I'm pretty web-savvy (been using the net for a LONG time) and I just now realized that you can drag a folder icon from the forum onto the desktop and link directly to a thread! I can't belive I never realized this before, I'm well aware you can drag url's from the address bar onto the desktop, for example...
This will solve my problem of having to tag every thread I want to keep short-term watch over as a "watched" thread, and seek it out in the list 2 levels down when I want to catch up, if it's off the front page...
Yipee!

clicking and dragging the folder icon in firefox doesn't work
you just download the icon and it opens in your gif viewer when clicked
BUT you can drag the thread title next to the icon to your desktop and it will work :)

Yah, you're right. That's what I was doing; dragging the thread title.

YOu can make a folder for threads on the desktop and drag 'em into that; only increase clutter by one object thusly :-)

well here's my useless thing that I discovered the other day that everyone else probably knows:
When you have the curves/levels/saturation or other dialogue boxes open you can hold down the "Ctrl+Alt" keys and the cancel button becomes a reset button so you can start over without having to go back in and out again.
Makes sense?
Or did everyone know that already?

I knew it. I don't know if "everybody" does... Whoever reads this thread knows it now :-)

Is it both the ctrl and alt? I thought it was just alt?
Thanks bear for the tip, I didn't know about either of these tips no more right click and copy paste (or ctrl+c and ctrl+v) to create shortcut.

Another one from DPChallenge that John Setzler hinted at: if you type in the address bar your favorite user's name, then .dpchallenge.com, it will link directly to their profile...kinda handy and a lot easier to recall than their user number (that is if you don't have them favorited.
Example w24x192.dpchallenge.com, etc

Right, it just never clicked on me that the thread title itself was a draggable link. I been dragging and dropping for years, duh...

ok, how about this one:
pressing "Ctrl+enter" after an address will automatically put the .com at the end and launch that site.
e.g type dpchallenge and then hit "Ctrl+enter"
Unfortunately it doesn't work with .org/.net/.biz etc
