I have seen many different photography seminars advetised in all the magazines. I have no clue if they are good or not or if some should be avoided.

Based on this past week's experiences and my future business direction, I need some specialized training in shooting models - be it seniors, wedding couples, kids, etc. I have seen the pros work a few times - they seem to know poses, give direction (lean here, move there, tilt you head, etc) and some (the best ones) are very interactive and have fun with their models.

SO far i am disappointed in my performance. It may get better eventually with practice, but I'd like to cut that time down with a seminar.

I live in Western PA, so a california class is out of the question. Cleveland, Phila, baltimore are all easy drives.

Anyone got some input on this?

I know your looking for seminars but in the mean time here's something I've seen portrait photographers do.

They collect model images from magazines. It will give you an excuse to buy Cosmopolitan or other such mag.

Contact your state-wide or local photography association. Most have many seminars/classes each year, it might also give you a chance to work side-by-side with some seasoned pros.

I think that would help, but this seems to be something beyond reading.

You can read a lot on how to play a violin, but one or two in-person lessons can make all the difference.

I looked at their site..they have a 5 day 'thing' coming up in march. The website assumes one has been to their event before as for a 5 day event there is no hint of a schedule of events or anything other than a list of $675 seminars, and you can pick one, and only one. Hmmm...5 days for that price is a good deal, but it doesn't say that either...

These types of events (non-photographic) that i've been to have 1 or 4 hours workshops and one fee gets you in for just about everything for the duration...so this has me confused.

We won't go into the price...well, i can spend 1/2 that in good concious.
