Help. Haha. It says single light source... does that rule out illuminating a few objects with a flashlight over a few second shutterspeed? or something like that? Cause a shot such as that would appear to have a few light sources even though there really is only one, kinda. Lol.. a little help here would be great.

I doubt that will count as a single light source... |

Good question. Because I was playing around with single light source and long shutter speeds as well. (On reviewing the shots I think I'll skip this challenge though)
Anyway, it won't result in a DQ, the worst that'll happen will be a low score and lots of 'There's more than one light source, DNMC' comments. |

haha. yea i was thinking it might not score so well either... hmm entering a challenge is always so much fun, but scoring low isn't. anyone else have an idea if this meets the challeng?

The problem is, the voters won't know you used a long shutter speed.
It will look like multiple light sources, therefore people will say it doesn't meet challenge. |

yes I couldnt agree with you more. I looked at the first light challenge and some of the shots had more than one light source, but that challenge wasnt restricted to one light source was it?

Looks like it was;
//www.dpchallenge.com/challenge_results.php?CHALLENGE_ID=38
"Use a single, artificial light source to dramatically light the subject of your choice. Your photograph must be taken this week (10/14-10/20). Good luck!"

You thought that what was the entire point of the challenge? One light source?

I would assume some degree of "light painting" would work in the challenge. I was done last time. None the less, I think the intention of the challenge was clear... dramatic lighting as a result of using a single (stable) light source. Still, if you have an image worth sharing... throw it in. |

Oh boy, I don't think mine is dramatic. I will stick out like a sore thumb I bet. Here's to hoping other just used one light source without being dramatic. |

The second place photo from the First Light Source challenge was a laser over a long exposure, if that helps. I think as long as you use your single light source creatively you will do well.

I thought the point was creatively using a single light source. Whether you choose to use your on camera flash, a flashlight, a lighthouse, a spotlight. It doesn't matter what the source is as long as it's just one.

The photo I entered was a time exposure with a moving light source. (I didn't get the idea from this thread -- I had already entered at the time). Sure enough, most of the comments say I didn't use a single light source and my score is the lowest of the challenges I've entered. Anyway, that I guess is the definitive answer to this thread, logical or not.

Going by the comments, I am being knocked down because there is a tiny light on my subject (which is not used to illuminate anything). I didn't even notice it when I shot it...LOL I can't wait till the challenge is over to ask questions! It is only my 2nd submission :)
