Anyone near enough to the Zermatt, Switzerland area to meet me there one day? Or a day trip close enough I can hop a train to shoot with some people yet be back by night?

I have been there twice, but mainly for skiing, and now I am looking for ideas for day trip photo hikes and train rides. I don't think I'm good enough to ski with my equipment, so I'll have to hike around a bit.

I know the ride to Gornegradt is pretty, as is the view from the train station, but where can you walk from there? Are there other places similar to this you can get to by train, and walk around and take some landscapes?

Also, if you have tips on using the transportation on days when my ski pass isn't valid, that'd be great. Is there something like an inexpensive 7 day rail pass?

Still hoping to find someone to do one or more day trip/shoots near Zermatt.

Alternatively, and additionally, looking for shooting suggestions there!

Ok, as long as I'm talking to myself, I might as well post some useful information.

I found this website with a walking guide to Zermatt. Sounds interesting, and the photos there are very nice. They want 11.99 to get internet access to the guide though. I might just pay it. What do you think?

Fire a PM off to JJBeguin; isn't he in Geneva? And we have at least one other member in Geneva, I forget his name. I lived there for four years and went to Zermatt many times, but this was back in the late 50's-early 60's, and such information as I can recall is bound to be out of date :-)
