The other day while I was shooting the Focus point of my 300D just left of center stopped working. It looked like it was trying to focus, but the lens would just run back and forth between macro and infinity. It happened with all the lenses (three of them) I tried, and all of the other focus points worked fine. I also tried turning all 7 of the focus points on and pointing the camera at a flat surface, and all of the focus points caught but that one, even though there was plenty of texture and color for it to focus on.

I turned to different modes, turned the camera off, took the battery out, re-tried everything and nothing I did made it work. Then, the next time I turned it on I think I was playing with A-Dep mode and I saw it was working again.

Does anybody with some camera knowledge know what might have caused this? What I'm worried of is a loose connection somewhere that might happen again, esepcially since the warranty is about to expire, and I'm going to call Canon support tomorrow, but any info before that would be really helpful.

Thanks!

Looks like you're going to have to deal with the wonderfulness that is Canon repair service. Hopefully, you live in the West Coast USA (as I hear the California one has less problems than the armpit of America one).
