Cornwallace. Isn't he the General who had a little problem at Yorktown at the end of the US Revolution? |
That's why he had the rummage sale.

"fortnight" is a very common word used all the time down here in Australia and New Zealand..... as in most people get payed fortnightly, weekly or monthly
and my spell checker had no problems with it at all :) |
Thankgod! Another Aussie to back up my backwards language! :p

I have heard the term quite often in my travels in Canada, particularly in those enclaves that have a fair number of people of British ancestry.

Yeah here in Australia it is used ALL the time, I am actually very surprised it's not used in the US, things like that are funny.

umm, try more like not since the early part of the 20th century. most people in the states only read the word in old books, not speak it in everyday life. |
Fortnight is used in australia and uk all the time. America has just lost touch of thier mother language :p
Oh and it would be "fortnightly" challenge, not fortnight long :P

Well, I'm Qmerican but I use the term, especially its derivative "fortnightly" with some regularity. Easier to type than "every two weeks". But then, I spent 4 years in a British boarding school, albeit as a day student.

I've read the word fortnight many times, but I haven't heard it used since listening to the old Dr. Demento show -- there was a skit with a time keeper introducing the different spans of time as if they were animals. He made a pet of a fortnight after taking her for his last vacation. ;)
Photographing three events in a fortnight doesn't sound very strenuous -- provided you leave yourself enough time to prepare the images afterwards.
