i know all the dpreview lemmings are rushing to update their firmware before the official release, but, since my camera works well already, I'm waiting until Canon makes an official announcement about the firmware - specifically, what issues it addresses.

Does any one know what changes are in that firmware?

This is what I have heard...
EOS 10D Firmware Version 1.0.1 supports the following:
1. It increases the reliability of USB communication when used with the camera direct print.
2. It corrects wrong simplified Chinese letters on MENU.
Typical Canon. Wouldn't want to fix the horrible LCD gamma or the highlight blowout issues would ya? - LOL

Agree... that is what is on Canon Japan's web site:
//www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/EOS10D/10D_firmware-e.html
In other words, I think it is a fairly useless update, especially considering that people were hoping for some shooting related improvements. |

This is the official release. You can go to the website and it'll be pointed to this file.

Actually they might have :) Canon would never admit there is a problem (such as the focus issue with several early cameras) :) Because posting a "fixing blown highlights" means that there was an issue and could blemish their brand name.

Even though i don't have a 10D, may i still post in this thread???? lol
Could someone explain 'fixing blown highlights' and does that apply to the G3? I have had my G3 for 7 weeks now and i have some issues with that. Not sure whether it is the same thing and i'm too embarrassed to elaborate on it here (proud woman, you know). |
