LOL, four out of five people (well, people who comment anyway!!) still think mine is creative, course now the score has fallen to 4.3 LOL. Still was fun - by the way, the fifth HINTED at the creativity also!! LOL

Have to laugh a bit at that, let me see, try to come up with an original idea. Okay, got it. Now go out and take the photo and do not try to make it a great photo, waste your time by taking it incorrectly, or badly. Sorry, but I do not own a professional studio's lighting, make do with natural and do what I think is good with that. Do not own a slr, own a point and shoot and do the best I can with that! Would NOT enter any photo I did not think was good at worst - very good or better is what I aim for. To me is kinda like driving a race car and only have 7 of the eight cylinders working - does not make much sense to me to enter it then, now does it? Just my opinion, I know!! LOL

It's not about the equipment. Why don't you click on your camera title under your name and take a look at some of the incredible work that has been done with that very same camera! It has always been about applying what you know, not what you own. That said, what you own may make life easier, but what you mention can be worked around, if you take the time.

superdave, took me almost four hours just to set up my shot, took about 60 pics of it, different angles, different lighting, different settings, etc etc etc. If that is not taking enough time, sorry, cannnot take much more than that. What I am saying is that I - THOUGHT - it was a good, fun shot when I entered it, and to me it is condescending to say those of us that are not scoring well with "creative" shots did not take our time and give our best efforts. Not so worried about the score, have figured out that means very little. Do worry about the amount of low scores I receive without comments, want to improve, but other than lighting, have received NO critiques. There is nothing I can do about that. Have to wonder if the way some think that we do not really try, if they just give out the one or two for THAT reason and not bother to comment?? Just a passing thought.

Good! Doing is learning! That's what this is all about.

- and to me it is condescending to say those of us that are not scoring well with "creative" shots did not take our time and give our best efforts.

I never said that I thought people were not putting forth their best
effort! And affter rereading my post, I certainly didn't intend to imply that people were not taking there time, I'm sure that many were,
but I'm equally sure that many did not take their time.

- give out the one or two for THAT reason and not bother to comment??

People should comment more, but these days people are affraid to comment, especially if being critical. A lot of people cannot handle
critical comments, thus people don't want to leave them because they
don't want to deal with the next thread titled "did this deserve a 1?"

Look, I'm not the best here (far from), but if you ever want an honest
critique let me know! I'll give my 2 cents.
In fact, because of this conversation I am going to attempt to comment
on any photo that I score low. Boy I can't wait for the nasty grams to start!

You have to cut the bottom off.
