Hope it's OK to start ANOTHER shutter speed thread
My submission bombed (as I thought it would)
I had the notion that we would see lots of slowed water effect shots with this challenge and so I wanted a slightly different slant
The idea was to stand in the shower and get the water motion running down my head. Unfortunately it proved much more complex than I anticipated. With a 3second shutter speed I still couldnt remain still enough to get a really sharp shot.
Picture the scene, me standing in the shower with the tripod in the doorway, the shower door open and water pi**ing all over the floor with my hand sticking out holding the remote trying to keep it dry.
Anyway, I trie dto get round the poor qaulity shot by pushing the post processing to the extreme. I kinda liked the strangeness of it and so submitted.
Anyway
LAter on in the week I read Joey's "grunge" tutorial and tried a re-edit fiddling around with various layers and actions.
I really like this one now and thought I'd post it for comments
Thanks
Steve

I did not vote on the shutter speed challenge, though I think I would have given your picture above average marks, no less than a 6.
You know what its biggest problem is? It's got subtlety without punch, which is hardly a bad thing by itself, but it just doesn't get the votes. It's noteworthy that it's twice been selected as a favorite.
FWIW, I like your challenge entry better than your re-edit. |
