Well the last challenge was fun. A great learning experience for me and it was a fun and exciting time shutting off my scores then peeking again.

One thing just surprised me more than anything else. I received an average vote of 3.75 from those voters with no cameras. Sheesh!

I was hoping for a top 15 but finishing 21st is great as well. In the end, I was thrilled to set a bunch of personal records:

1. Most views - 900
2. Most comments - 31
3. Most favorites - 4

This was my second highest rated score and now graces my profile page. Thanks everyone.

Here were some outtakes from the challenge.

Hey Rikki, nice work. Dumb question. When setting shutter speeds and moving about, does the movement get picked up. Or just when the model stops and holds the pose?

Marc: Since the shot is "composed" with lights on and shot in total darkness, no movement is picked up. The flash freezes the subject in place and then it's total darkness again. I did this 3x and depending on the strength of your flash, results vary. If you look at my outtake, it looked like Kelly just had a twin. This was shot at 1/2 power. For my entry image, I used 1/128th power. I use a Sigma Super 500DG with the diffuser which is quite strong.

You should try it sometime. It's fun. In my self portrait, I was sitting on a chair and moved the chair not only left and right but also front and back. This gave the illusion of greater depth and perspective which is quite fun actually :)

I scored this as an 8 - I really liked the expressions and feeling of movement. Also figured a fair bit of work had gone into setting it up which deserveds recognition. Shame your finishing place wasn't a bit higher.

Thanks :) yes it took a bit of setup to make sure the flash was firing just at the right power output. I would say overall, it took about an hour and a half for about 15 images.

We started at around 6pm PST and I had to stop just shy of 8:30pm PST to make sure I had enough time to process the RAW images :)

Glad you liked it.

Thanks Doc! I was surprised at that myself. Maybe because Kelly is a cutie :) Anyway, in as much as I'm surprised about that, I'm more puzzled about the 3.75 average I received from voters with no camera? Why such the disparity? I'm thinking ghost accounts just to bring decent images down. Much like the votes the ribbon winners get. but if you look at the stats of the images ahead of me, my average from users with no camera is rather lower than usual.

So someone votes low. Fine. Is it maybe because they're bitter and don't have a camera. Or they don't know and appreciate how difficult shots can be? Maybe masters lurking in the dark waiting for the right moment to pounce?

Can someone explain?
