I know we like to blame the Trolls for those scores which drop overnight, but here's another idea.

The very first scores you get are scores where your picture pops up in the first 25 or so entries. People don't have a sense of what the challenge is going to be like so "vote high".

As the night progresses you get more votes where your picture popped up in the last 25 votes. Voters are fatigued by this point. They know what the challenge holds and if there are "duplicate" entries you get the "been there, done that" vote. These voters "vote low".

Often in the morning, if you catch it, your vote rebounds again. This is because there is a new wave of voters where your picture is in the first 25 votes.

As the week progresses, the number of new voters drops to the point that at any one time you may have a "new voter" or an "old voter". You score finds a baseline and moves little.

Just an idea...my current entry received an average 6.62 in the first 27 votes. The next 43 votes it received an average of 5.84, almost a full point lower.
