I've been looking at some new lenses and some mention that there is a much tighter viewable angle when using the lense on a D100 or D1X. Is there a different sized sensor in these camera or is this something else at play?
I was under the impression before now that Nikon had the benefit of a standard 1.5 crop on all of their sensors compared to the range of crops on Canons. |

That's what I thought, but I'd need an explanation for this then. No other Nikkor lenses in this store carry this explanation, but this specifically mentions it in both the product description as well as the Specifications page.
Nikkor 50mm 1.8 at 'The Camera Store'
"Picture angle 46° (31°-30° with D1-series and D100 digital SLR)"

The 46 degree figure is appropriate for a 50mm lens on a 35mm film or full-frame digital body. I suspect teh verbage is there because of the difference in angle of view between film and Nikon digital bodies.

Now does that mean that the angle of view quoted for all of the other lenses on that site are quoted for film unless otherwise noted? |

normally a lens will be quoted for it's 35mm film specs, but the digital versions of lenses might not be. I am not sure.

To the best of my knowledge, the digital lenses (DX) are ALL quoted in their 35mm terms. At least my 18-70 is anyway heh.
