That was great! Very Poe-esque. (Poe-etic?)

I feel exactly the same. I would never post up anything here that might make me look foolish. ;-)
Go for it - there is absolutely nothing to lose. ...and you know you want to. :) |

Our love grew from nothing
You filled my life with sunshine, happiness and love
We completed each other in every way.
You made me happier than I have ever been.
Then the wind of change came and you let me go,
now I lay on the ground,
alone, empty and dieing.
The last thoughts that go through my mind are of you, us, your sunshine. |

"I have lived long enough. My way of life is to fall into the sere, the yellow leaf, and that which should accompany old age, as honor, love, obedience, troops of friends I must not look to have."
Made that up all by myself.
(Well....it's out of copyright, at least) |

I know it's not 8 lines but I think her description details were kind of poetic themselves...may need some help with the ending.
A leaf on my back porch
in the shadows of the tree,
but this one dapple of light
shining on it perfectly
so I had to capture it.

Late one night
A leaf fell from a tree,
Brown, green, and very closely.
I looked into its veins and to my despair,
I saw myself laying right there.
Older and mature and nowhere to go,
My life was still not complete but the leaf had to go.

I haven't written a poem for at least 20 years! Here goes nothing...
A leaf that once clung to the tree,
lost it's grip, fell next to me.
It's lushious green was turning brown,
this, the reason it fell to the ground.
The shutter clicks and stores the light,
Forever captured, the little leafs plight.
But along with the leaf, the seeds were sewn,
In a few years time, your ancestors will have grown.
Last line is too long and I can't think of a shorter sentence to say the same thing! |

Alone in the light
she cry's in plain sight.
A vibrant smile
shadowed by burns
shadowed in spite.
Marred her reflection,
internally lethargic
dieing to live... out of sight.

Where is my tree?
Can you find it for me?
I've fallen down!
I'm turning brown!
Oh I miss my tree!
Please find it for me!

The Fallen Leaf
Clinging to his every word,
He asked me if I̢۪d ever heard,
The gentle breeze that tells the grief--
The story of the fallen leaf.
Trembling in the autumn wind,
To the ground he softly pinned.
And stole my heart, a cunning thief.
I̢۪ve stumbled like the fallen leaf. |
All good but, I like Phat's attempt.
