I cloned out all of the people and a few other distractions, and then I sharpened, bumped up the contrast, desaturated, and added a slight blueish tint using color balance. Thoughts?

p.s. for future reference, it's generally not a good idea to shoot in b/w or sepia. Those conversions can be done so easily in post-processing and you'll also have the color version if you ever want it.

Hey, thanks for the tips. Gotta say I learnt to shoot only in colour not too long ago. When this pic was taken back in early Aug, I hadn't yet discovered post-editing and was trying out the features in my relatively new digital camera. Loved what you did technically, and cloning out the people gives it a different message dimension I think. Nice option to consider altho' still can't make up my mind about liking it better with or without the people. But I definitely agree it's better without the figure by the stairs on the right and the other stuff in the upper right corner. It' a much cleaner version. Thanks for re-working and showing me what can be done! I do prefer it in stark black over the bluish tone you've applied but that's just a matter of personal taste. : )

OK, I'm bringing back this thread by moving something I had posted in another thread challenge results discussion in case anyone's interested.

Unfortunately, that thread just got way too heated up for my taste. This was what I posted. And to keep the spirit of this thread Pekesty started, pls feel free to post an image you think has been unnoticed for honest critique. I'm no expert but I'll do my best.

Sorry if I seem like hijacking this thread. My shutter speed entry was really a personal experiment on unfamiliar turf and skills. So wondered if that counts as being courageous ;) Whatever you think it is, I wouldn't mind getting some downright honest critique which was the whole idea of entering 'coz I knew it wasn't gonna sit well on scores.

Thanks in advance.
