I am purchasing a 70-200mm IS 2.8 and an 24-70mm 2.8 L

Do either of these come with a hood before I purchase them? Thanks :)

yup, both of them come with their own hood. The 70-200 should also come with a light grey pouch with a zipper, and the 24-70 (if I recall correctly) has a smaller dark grey pouch with tie strings.

Both are solid purchases

get a BWL (300 2.8 IS and up), and you'll get a hard case for it too. Of course, for 4k and up, you better get something.

Me? forget the case, I just want a coupon for 50% off my next lens purchase.

Hm, I've seen your posts over at FM, you do some impressive work. Nice to see you around DPC.

Sorry for that off-topicness.

Congrats, I have 'em both. The hoods are not interchangeable despite the same 77mm dimensions.

Thanks hsteg, just want to help whomever I can, and while I love FM, I don't mind popping into other photography forums.

The hoods don't always fit each other, but sometimes do. You can use a "tighter" hood than is given because of the digital crop factor sometimes, but often you wan't to be careful you don't end up with vignetting.

That being said, the hood that comes with the lenses are usually just fine.
