I've got an Inspiron 9300 which is fairly loaded (1 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800, etc). However, I have felt that the video during a DVD is not up to what I expected. It can be fairly herky-jerky, espeically during frenetic action or possibly during scenes with heavy CG (even if there isn't much "going on). Watching Fellowship of the Ring was a good example.

Am I expecting too much of the computer? or should I pursue a solution? I talked to tech support, but they were fairly useless. I upgraded the BIOS and am using the latest video driver. No help.

Any ideas? I use the Dell Media Experience to run the movies, but I believe it still happens with other players like Windows Media.

doesn't seem like the video card or the RAM amount is too awful bad, i play DVD's on a PC with much less than that, usually I only have problems with jerky motion on pause/unpause. Though, I suspect that I'm alot less picky about it that you are ;-)

Yep I have a 9300, and I can't say I noticed any real problem with the DVD. It plays nice and smooth for me.

Just a damn heavy brute with the 17" screen.
