I am working on a Slideshow CD, and need to work on hundreds of images. The operations required to be carried are: Image size(640x480 pixels), sRGB, SFW(150KB), Text Tool(name of my website), Save.
Is it possible to process the images AS BATCH, using Photoshop 5.5?

Create an action.

Can Photoshop 5 do actions? I thought I heard once that it was a feature of 6 and up. But if it can do an action, then that's the best way. Assign it a F# key. You'll have to open every photo, one at a time, but then all you have to do is press F# and it can apply all your chages and resave the file.

I'm not sure I was even born when PS 5.5 was all the rage - perhaps THAT has something to do with your lack of response :-)

I am ready to upgrade to PS 6.0 or PS 7.
How to create an action?

I use PS CS2 now, and not sure why you wouldn't just upgrade to that or CS, if you are going to upgrade. Follow the help file (search for Action or batch) and it will walk you through the steps. An action is easy..click new action, start recording, stop recording when done, and then do a batch process to run the action on all the images.

I use a similar action all the time when creating proofs.

I guess that makes me really old, cause I still have PS 3.0 on my kids computer.

I use PS CS and extensis portfilio for batch processing now, but I used to use graphic converter (shareware) that did a pretty good job. Check Versiontracker.com.

I could find a working copy of v2.0 if I had to : )

I use 5.0 right now, though I have access to the latest versions at work on the rare occasions I need it.

Sounds like something a GIMP Scrip Fu script could pull of easily ...
