Okay, took my new camera out today for the first time and was wondering, while on, between shots it makes a noise, almost like a motor with a slight grind to it but not really a grind, almost a cycling noise, like you can hear something turning. Is that right? I'm thinking NO!

Super bummed if I have to send the camera back already

Autofocus on? My Z3 will continue to "work" if I'm in continuous focus mode and have the lens cap off.

Set it on single-focus instead of continuous focus on the menu and the noise should go away :-) The camera is seeking focus allt he time it's turned on right now, I bet.

Kewl... just be aware that if you're shooting ACTION you want it on continuous focus, so it keeps working until the instant you press the shutter.
