Hey! Bet you wondered why it was so quiet around here, heh? Well because I haven't been home since yesterday morning.

I got a call very early Sunday morning, 2:30 AM early to be exact from Ellie at her friend's house. She didn't feel well and wanted to come home, could I come get her. DUH! Of course I could. She was complaining of a stomach ache that was all across her stomach area. I gave her some ibuprofen (sp?) and she was finally able to get to sleep about an hour later.

She woke me back up at 11 AM saying it was hurting even more, only this time only on the right side. Oh no, which side is that appendix on? I can never remember.

Melissa had spent the night at another friend's house so I called to see if James could come over as well so I could take Ellie to the hospital. No problem there.

Drop James off, take Ellie to the ER.

After about 2 hours of talking, blood work, CT scan, etc. the doctor comes in to let us know they are pretty sure it's her appendix and he's sending the surgeon in. Luckily before he did all this I had prepared Ellie for it. I had explained all the possiblities of what could happen and if she did have to operated on what would happen. She took it like a trooper.

About 2 hours later they took her in. I let them know that if there was any reason they would not be out in the estimated time they had better let me know or I would be storming in after my baby and if she tells me that ANYONE hurt her they were going down. They all laughed at that, then looked at my face and realized I wasn't kidding. :) Okay, I was a little.

So finally about 45 minutes later they called the waiting room to let me know she made it through with flying colors. About 1/2 hour after that I got to go in recovery with her until she woke up, I promised her I would be there.

We got to her room, I spent the night on a chair that folds out to a cot, she got the comfy hospital bed and we came home this morning. It was her appendix, very nasty in fact. Not just a little red but ready to rupture! I got one tough kid. And one very tired kid with a sore belly.

Oh man, she must have a high pain threshold! Glad to hear everything went smoothly.

Yeah she does, this is the same child when she was about 2 years old had a raging ear infection, those ears were red as red could be, running a fever of 102 degrees and yet still smiled for the doctor when he talked to her. Hardly a murmer from this one when she's sick.

Good to hear she's doing well. I have a pretty high pain threshold as well and it's gotten me in trouble a few times....
