For the Grain challenge, I cropped a large photo quite dramatically. Did I do the crop okay?

Commented. I think you did a good job and I like the picture. But then, I'm not one of those grain-haters, never have been...

I think your "bee" has an identity crisis. It's actually a fly masquerading as a bee. Quite appropriate for Halloween.
Here's a link about hover flies that I found interesting.
I like the image you chose as well as the one you cropped it from. |

You're welcome. And since you orginally asked about the crop; I like threes, and purple; and think the other elements of your image are very nice. Therfore, if it were my image, I would have cropped it like this.
Just my humble opinion; and I don't do well in challenges, so take it with a grain of salt.
