Any suggestions? How about this one?

Sigma Lens

Or this one?

Nikkor Lens

1. Any good lens review sites?
2. Any good sites to purchase from?
3. What is the difference between say 60mm, 85mm, 105mm macro lenses? Why would one be better than the other? Any other advice would be great thanks...

B&H Photovideo & Adorama is where I get most my stuff. In over a decade of doing business with them I never had any headaches.

The 60 is not really that great of a lens, which is surprising considering the legacy of great short macros (55mms). Its not very sharp when used at infinity, and doesn't give much working distance @ 1:1.

The 85 is quite unique for a macro lens, because it allows tilt & shift (which is quite useful in macro). Negatives with the 85 is that it is expensive and since its better to meter before shifting its not the best for moving (i.e. live) subjects. No AF is a non-issue with macro.

The 105 is IMO the best modern Nikon macro lens, and arguably the best macro on the market. Nice working distance & extremely sharp from f4-11. 1:1 without accessories.

My favorite Nikon Macro either the 105f4ais or the Nikon 135mm f/5.6 EL-Nikkor Enlarging Lens on a bellows. Both extremely flat field, sharp lenses with outstanding definition, but limited functionality (i.e. no meter) on the D70.

might i suggest a third option?

//www.dpchallenge.com/lens.php?LENS_ID=1088

note the name under most of the photos there and becomes quite obvious that i love this lens... check my portfolio and journal for more examples

i got it from adorama.com and there was a rebate at the time (not sure if it's still offered) but i put the rebate form in the mail on a monday and had the check in hand by the second wed.

Sigma 105mm

That 50mm 1.8 isn't a macro but it's awesome and there's a cheaper version at around $100.

if you need to go cheap or want to go larger than 1:1 -
try extention tubes
