Nice comparison.
The boat has sunk!

Going again in the Winter? ;-)

Personally, I like the Summer one better. I like the tighter crop of the scene and the boat really makes the shot.

IMO, you over-cooked the gradient sky in the Autumn one. Maybe a lower vantage point to bring some more foreground in to play?? ...just thinking out loud. It's still a great shot of a beautiful scene. It's just when you place it side-by-side with the Summer one... :-)

I go by there several times a week. I'll do one in the winter for sure. What prompted the shot was the realtively rare combination of my being there very early in the morning (my dentist is 100 yards from there and I had an app't) and absolute calm on a flood tide.

Interesting comment re: lower vantage point for more foreground. Perhaps I should jump off the bridge and shoot as I plummet? But, seriously, as a rule going HIGHER works better to get more foreground. The sky gradients, of course, are infinitely variable. Intriguing that some think the autumn one is less natural. I'd have said the opposite I think.

Robert, the title of your thread made me think of this one taken with the Sigma 70-200. It's kind of a last gasp by the spirit of summer as cold weather closes in.
