I've got a 35-135 Nikkor at the moment. I find it limiting at both the telephoto and wide ends of its range.
I started shooting on a Canon S1-IS and I find myself missing that image stabilization and long-throw telephoto. Is there a decent option (Nikkor, tamron, sigma, etc.) for a longer telephoto with an IS/VR system.
I sm not looking at $3000 glass due to budget restraints so this might not be possible.
Failing that, a 135 or 200mm lense with an aperature wider than 3.5-4.5 would be great as this would, at least, give me more light to work with, cancelling out some of the need for an IS system.
Thanks. |

Two great lens that will cover most of your shots.
A 17-55mm at 2.8 and a 70-200mm at about 2.8 will cover just about all your average shooting situations. Photo journalism, landscape, portrait, sports, product photos and basic nature.
The only thing you might look into is some type of micro/macro capable lens which there are many to choose. In a micro/macro lens you can get a fantastic manual lens. Save some bucks by going manual ( you wont need fast focusing or auto functions for mostly static photgraphy) and put the money into quality glass for incredible small scale shots.
